1. Maxxmar Cordless Blinds
Like other brands, Maxxmar offers cordless blinds to simplify your life – and protect children and pets from hazardous cords. In this section, you can learn more about the cordless operating systems Maxxmar offers as well as see some of the horizontal and vertical blinds they offer.
Cordless Operating Systems
While you can get cordless blinds in the form of motorized blinds, there are some other economical choices. With children’s safety in mind, Maxxmar offers cordless blinds with their cordless blind control systems:
- DecoraSafe Lightlift Blinds
- DecoraSafe HeavyLift Cordless Blinds
DecoraSafe Lightlift Cordless Blinds
This system has a wand which holds a chain loop that moves the blinds with the help of a crank.
DecoraSafe HeavyLift Cordless Blinds
This system has no chain or wands involved – you simply lift the blinds up and pull them down. It’s simple! See the video below to watch just how easy these are to use.

Horizontal Blinds
Maxxmar, a well-known brand from Ontario, has various cordless blind options including the following horizontal blinds:
- St. Moritz Wood Blinds
- Zurich Faux Wood Blinds
- Maxx Value Faux Wood Blinds
St. Moritz Wood Blinds
These real wood blinds are made in our home and native land, Canada, from high-quality North American basswood. These blinds are constructed from strong and resilient wood which provides excellent insulation to reduce your energy costs. They have 2″ slats and come in a variety of colours and warm tones. A decorative moulded wood valance is a standard element.
Zurich Faux Wood Blinds
These blinds are made from a blend of resin and wood. They are ideal for rooms that tend to have high-humidity levels like kitchens and bathrooms since they are designed to resist warping and cracking. They are also made to resist fading. These blinds come with 2″ slats and can be ordered in a wide variety of colours, textures and even prints. A decorative edge valance is included.
Maxx Value Faux Wood Blinds
Also made in Canada, these value faux wood blinds are available in smooth finishes or textured prints. These faux blinds come with 2″ slats and include a decorative edge valance.

Vertical Blinds
For larger windows and patio doors, vertical blinds are a great option. Maxxmar offers a few types with the DecoraSafe operating controls. These products are a spin on the typical vertical blinds and are called vertical shades. The neat thing about these shades is that while they look like blinds, you can actually raise them like a roller shade so that you get a completely open view to the outdoors.
Consider the following types:
- Opera Verticals
- Vertical Shadings
- Opera Eleganza
These shades come in a variety of colours, textures and opacities. The transparent and opaque fabric sections of the shade repeat by passing behind each other to provide the following settings: light filtering, translucent, room darkening or semi-room darkening.
Like the Opera Vertical Shadings above, these vertical shadings come in a variety of colours, textures and opacities. The 100 % polyester fabric offers maximum control of the sun’s glare and helps protect from UV rays while still providing the following settings: light filtering, semi-room darkening, room darkening and open position.
Or – get something that looks like a blend between sheers and blinds!
These blinds are more like sheers and are great if you want soft, neutral colours. These vertical sheers are not exactly blinds, but they can be controlled with a wand – another alternative to those potentially hazardous cords.
2. Hunter Douglas Cordless Blinds
Cordless Operation
Hunter Douglas offers their PowerView motorization as well as 2 types of cordless operating systems:
- LiteRise
- SimpleLift.
LiteRise
Like Maxxmar products, you can use your hand to simply push up or pull your blinds down with the LiteRise system from Hunter Douglas. No lift cords and no clutter.
SimpleLift
SimpleLift is an operating system that is also very easy to use. All you need to do is push a button on the bottom contoured rail. Again, no lift cords and no clutter. Watch the video below to learn more.

Horizontal Blinds
Hunter Douglas offers a bit more variety in their blinds and this can be expected given that they have been around since the early 1900’s. They offer horizontal blinds in real wood, alternative wood and aluminum. Here is a sample of what they offer:
- Parkland Wood Blinds
- EverWood Alternative Wood Blinds
- Modern Precious Metals Aluminum Blinds
These real wood blinds come in rotating slats of either 2″ or 2 1/2″ sizes. They come in a varied palette of wood stains and solid paint colours. You can also add decorative tapes for a special accent. Using the advanced finishing technology, these blinds have been protected in order to maintain their beauty. Plus, for every Parkland blind purchased, Hunter Douglas makes a donation to the Arbor Day Foundation® to support sustainability.
EverWood Alternative Wood Blinds
Get the classic and rich look of real wood blinds but with a guarantee that they will not fade, yellow, warp or bow. These blinds with realistic stain-like finishes are perfect for humid bathrooms or bright sunny rooms. These blinds come in a variety of colours and finishes and slat sizes of 2″ or 2 1/2″. Plus, you can add decorative tape on these, too.
Modern Precious Metals Aluminum Blinds
These sleek blinds are durable and designed to resist more wear and tear than other blinds. You can get these in a variety of colours and finishes, including matte, metallic and pearlescent hues. Plus you get more choice when it comes to slat sizes – you can choose from 1/2″, 1″ or 2″ slats.
Vertical Blinds
Hunter Douglas offers vertical blinds in a variety of materials including vinyl, fabric and aluminum. Here are some cordless options:
- Vertical Solutions Vertical Blinds
- Somner Custom Vertical Blinds
- Cadence Soft Vertical Blinds
Vertical Solutions Vertical Blinds
These blinds are offered in both fabric or vinyl and actually help absorb sound! They come in several patterns and colours and louvers are 3 1/2″. Instead of using a cord, these can be operated with a wand – or motorization!
These blinds come in fabric, vinyl, and aluminum and they give you the largest selection of colours and finishes – even geometric patterns. They are designed to reduce outside noise with their special texturing process called Softex. Louver sizes are also 3 1/2″.
Cadence Soft Vertical Blinds look like soft drapery folds and also help with sound absorption. There are plenty of colour options – click here to see them all! The louver size is 3 1/2″ and they can be moved without cords through the use of a wand.
