Graham’s & Son is looking for a highly creative person with imagination and artistic flair to join our winning team. The ideal candidate for this position will be someone willing to work a flexible schedule consisting of weekends, evenings, and day shifts. This part-time position in Cambridge will have a work week consisting of 5 to 40 hours, depending on how busy we are. If you have a passion for decorating and residential design, this could be a great stepping stone for you to be able to learn sales and interact with customers. We teach all our staff how to sell and equip them with the knowledge required to do so effectively.

Job Title: Interior Decorator
Location: Cambridge, Ontario
Job Type: part-time
Hours: weekends, evenings, and day shifts
Hourly Rate: $15.00 plus commission on any sale (to be determined/negotiated)

Duties and Responsibilities:
As an Interior Decorator, your duties and responsibilities will include:
- creating plans and specifications
- sales: experience would be an asset
- having knowledge of window treatments and renovations would be an asset
- going to clients homes for free at-home consultation appointments
- providing quotations to potential clients
- consulting with and analyzing clients’ needs and preferences
- making sure that a project is finished in accordance with the timeline and budget set for the project
- Consulting with clients to help them select a style for a particular room and planning the space. As part of this presentation, making suggestions for specific colours, fabrics, window treatments, furniture, flooring, wall coverings and lighting, etc.
Skills Required for the Position:
- Good communication and listening skills
- Working knowledge of computer-aided drafting software
- Minimum 1 year of experience at a design firm
- Aptitude for illustration and technical drawing is necessary
- Demonstrated flexibility in your approach to tasks
- Good colour sense and an eye for detail
- Excellent problem-solving skills
Specific Skills:
- Estimate the cost of projects and prepare detailed specifications
- Create interior spaces that reflect clients’ needs and tastes
- Consult with clients to determine needs
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Work under pressure, handle tight deadlines
- Attention to detail, ability to distinguish between colours
- Combination of sitting, standing, walking
Educational and Training Requirements:
- Training certificate as an interior decorator or designer
- Expert in interior design software including but not limited to:
Autodesk Revit
SketchUp
Autodesk 3Ds Max
Autodesk AutoCad
Adobe Photoshop cs6 - *Knowledge in the following software an asset:
Autodesk Homestyler
InteriCAD
Work Experience:
- Interior Decorating/ Design: 1 year (Required)
- Customer Service: 1 year (Required)
Other:
- Must have the physical ability to stand for an extended period of time.
- Knowledge and experience in interior design or decorating would be considered a strong asset
- Self-motivated and willing to learn and expand their sales knowledge
- Have reliable transportation and own vehicle to go to sales calls
