“Wonderful service. We recently renovated our family room. Purchased blinds and custom drapery. Matthew provided an in-home consultation. He brought samples and had creative suggestions to help me choose best window coverings to finish our room. Installation was very professional as well. I am so pleased with the finished result. Thank you Matthew and staff. I will recommend you to friends and family.“

Curtain Trends for Summer 2018
Purchasing new curtains is relatively inexpensive and it isn’t a permanent room feature so they make a great place for you to indulge in the latest trends. The following are the hottest curtain trends for summer 2018. Get your windows ready for the heat and make your rooms dazzle with these amazing and gorgeous designs.
Ice Cream Inspired Pastels
When you think of summer, pleasant memories of enjoying a cool, satisfying ice cream cone on a hot, lazy day spring to your mind. Bring those memories back and right into your home with this first popular curtain trend for summer 2018. Ice cream is this season’s inspiration for drapery colours. Choose from soft and sweet shades that replicate the flavours of strawberry, mint, pistachio, grape, lemon and orange. The classic lines and brass and metal accents of the above window treatments from ShopHouseDesign and PinPoint add a touch of elegance to these whimsical colours of summer.
Embellishments
Fringing, tassels and ribbons will be a popular addition to curtains this summer. You’ll see lots of tactile embellishments on the most stylish curtains. The black tassels and fringe added to these white sheers by OK elevate this window treatment from ordinary to extraordinary. The light-weight and semi-sheer grey curtains on the right by Urban Outfitters are playfully adorned with colourful pom poms. This breezy curtain design is crafted from soft woven cotton and would make a fun yet functional and cheery addition to any room.
Glittery Gold
Gold is always synonymous with elegance and grandeur. So whether you want to add a little or a lot to your room, the effect will always be quite stunning. You can bring a small taste of Bollywood into your home by simply using glittering gold jewelry curtain ties to hold back any drapery like the design idea above from Atelie 42. Or go all out like the second design above from DanaD. This opulent use of rich golden satin for these gorgeous floor-to-ceiling drapes is the perfect complement to the harlequin patterned walls. It is beautifully finished off with golden ties, tassels, and embellishments.
Floral Accents
Summer brings with it an abundance of flowers and so does this next curtain trend. The first floral design by La Fashion Italy shows a Madame Butterfly inspired curtain pelmet with a matching floral tieback. What is a pelmet? It’s a decorative type of valence that is used to cover a curtain’s fastenings. In this case, the pelmet not only covers the fastenings but becomes the major focal point of this window. The second design by The Elegance of Conviction incorporates a gorgeous and classic floral pattern into the sumptuously rich fabric of these full-length curtains.
Flowing, Full and Knotty
The next design trend for this year showcases full and flowing floor to ceiling drapes cascading to the floor in luscious ample folds of material. The tops of the first design by ShadesSource are tied in irregular knots that echo the feeling of a gown from an ancient Greece goddess. The second design from Forter is made from a high quality patternless and glossy grey artificial silk. The tops of these beautiful curtains are ruched and embroidered with reinforced top hems with grommets.
Mix and Match Trends
Having a hard time deciding on your favourite trend? Well, then this final trend is for you. Simply mix and match your favourite trends and start your own. This design on the right by Electrickeyboardmilk incorporates tassels and ice-cream inspired pastels. Throw in a matching upholstered chair and you have an elegant room that you will love to show off to your friends and spend luscious quiet time relaxing in by yourself. The design on the right combines three of our current trends: soft golden tones, a small floral pattern, and soft tassel edging. The result is a charming window treatment that could be found gracing the most respectable french country cottage.
